2-2-5. Logical Characteristics
of Samjae & Kang-Yu
Discussing the exact academical status of Samjae and yin/yang or Kang-Yu first,
they are something like directions along which we locate our thinking framework
when we think something change. They haven't had defined name so far. So let
me give the group of them a name, which is "logiction"; its implication
is 'direction of thinking(or logic).'
At first, it is certain that the concepts of Samjae and Kang-Yu don't belong
to the kinds of logical categories. The logical categories are based on distinction
between class and species(À¯¿Í Á¾). It means, when we reached the most comprehensive
set of concepts in our consideration of what concept belongs to which set of
concepts, we call it "category". Since, however, Samjae and Kang-Yu
or yin/yang are not the categories, neither is yin/yang an example of Samjae
nor Samjae an example of yin/yang. On the other hand, we can discern yin/yang
repeatedly in a thing of yin and all the same with Samjae, so that we can apply
Samjae repeatedly to factors of Haneul or Tang.
Like this, the conceptual characteristics of Samjae and yin/yang are different
from those in the formal logic. For an example, considering yin/yang, locating
the direction of thinking, like that if something has a feature of yang it also
has that of yin, it is rather the logical characteristics of yin/yang. Therefore
also in the property of yang, if you see an aspect(yang) again, the other(yin)
can be found to be. All the same with Samjae too, which is a compass of thinking
that enables us to get reflective thought that something, which is once distinguished
as what it is, also has the entire background that enables the distinction with
the subjective that recognizes it.

Logical category concerns the patterns of how things are. Thus, it depends
on the relations and its properties of cognitive subjective and objects, belonging
to the ontological system of western philosophy. To the contrary, logiction
depends on the change focusing on acts and formalization of recognition. Thus,
just as with the framework of four directions(east, west, south and north) we
can locate all the other three directions once (for an instance) north was pointed,
so does logiction enlarge the system of behavior and recognition appling the
frameworks of Samjae or yin/yang, Kang/Yu to things. Therefore, logiction requires
its locational condition.
The locational condition of yin/yang is simple. If one is yin then you can
find the other of the contrary or opposite property, which is yang. On the other
hand, that of Samjae is more complicated. If there is a whole that includes
an intentional subjective that intends to do something every change gets its
being as occurring and disappearing of an object to the subjective. Therefore,
the locational condition of Samjae as logiction can be spelled out like following;
If a thing is distinguished as what it is it belongs to Tang. The cause that
produces the distinction belongs to Saram. On the other hand, the foundation
that enables this causational phenomenon belongs to Haneul. Therefore, there
being a body that intends something as its objective what is intended belongs
to Tang while the body as subject of intending belongs to Saram and the foundation
that realizes the existence of this intending belongs to Haneul.
You will see many times the examples of using logictions of Samjae, yin/yang,
Kang/Yu and Heo/Sil in this whole volume.
