4-4. Approach
To discuss the pose in use of techniques, factors of Tang is to approach the
opponent in continuous change. Particularly, in discussion about this approach,
it is important to push your mind forward to your opponent, for which you need
the 'bloody spirit'(߯ëò).
You can connect techniques of Kang and Yu to each other uniting them into one.
Complete approach implies complete control over him. Therefore, it is the approach
along the way of Earth that mediates techniques of Kang and Yu in the direct
way. On the other hand, the way of physical motion is that of mental activity.
Therefore, principles of body is those of mind. Accordingly technique represents
activity of your mind.
Since a technique represents the change of mind and its use needs your approach
to your opponent, you should keep your objective( i.e. what you want to do)
close to you always in Taekwondo. So you should not avoid a danger that threats
yourself. This is what is meant by the way of Tang, which says, you approach
your opponent. It is the most positive way of life. At the same time, it is
"the right principle of every
skill in Taekwondo".(Ch.11)
To say different way, you can use techniques of Kang and Yu exactly only when
you approach your opponent. Also is this what is meant by the transcendence
to inside of life.1) The transcendence to inside
of life is ultimate attitude of life, of Taekwondo man. By the way, it is also
the principle of concrete techniques, which is the Ilgiyae.
And you should lower yourself humbly under him along the way of Sky, keeping
everything its own proper position in you with control of Samjae of Haneul(Heaven),
Tang(Earth) and Saram(Man), and it becomes the courtesy.

1) Thus, three figures of the "Transcendence to inside
of life" are the ways of Samjae: The ways of Haneul, Tang and Saram.
