7-4-3. Use of Yu-gi(Yu technique)

Relaxation is the objective condition for Yu-technique. On the other hand, it is the objective form, i.e. the figure of Yu-technique; to move in good order when you follow your opponent. "Things have their root and their branches. Affairs have their end and their beginning. To know what is first and what is last will lead near to <Do>."1) In the same way, you can find an order you have to keep in your following. Therefore, in the use of Yu-technique, you should follow in the order from what is close to you to what is far from you. Every factors of change except for yourself is the object of this following.

When you use Yu-technique following your opponent, you should follow the nature first. So you lower your pose following the gravity that pulls everything down, and press him and what you've grabbed down too. And then, you also follow his resisting power along the whole nature. "Thus, when you are the Taekwondo man who receives the opponent's attack, you move all of yourself aside playing together with him like water that steps aside ways of an oar. Therefore, you stand aside close to his attack with the remaining parts, which couldn't move aside yet, prevents him like the water wave that holds the oar, and this also can be a good attack."(Ch.37) Prior to all of them, however, you have something to follow, which is verily TAEKWONDO. You can follow TAEKWONDO by means of following the way of Samjae. Therefore, Lao tsu also said; "being in accord with <Do>, he is everlasting, and is free from danger throughout his lifetime."2)

On the other hand, following Samjae you can correct the order of all kinds of followings. Remember, the essence of every technique is ¡°to have your opponent opposed to the world harmonizing yourself in it¡±, namely, the way of Tang(Earth). Obedient to the gravity you should lower your body with pressure, and then you can have your opponent fight it, when you follow him. Therefore though you follow strong opponent you can avoid your being at his beck and call. For he is also opposed to the gravity, namely the world. On the other, if you keep the right order also of your following your opponent you can keep everything on its own proper place so as not to get out of this order of following. It is verily the following the way of Haneul. Then your movement is ¡°extremely soft and weak though, once moving, it become hard and strong.¡±3)
