"What do I need more now?"

"You need controls of your mind more."


 

The process of practicing Taekwondo always ought to be that of overcoming your limitation. To go out over your limitation, it is the process of transcendental discipline. There are always fear, pain and temptation of self-excuse in this process, which thus requires patience and fortitude to conquer them all. All of these constitute just the character building. Strengthening your body, training you mind and learning Taekwondo are same with one another.

Why is it that you should train yourself always in the pain of transcendental discipline in Taekwondo? It is just owing to the unlimitedness of life. There is no rule in life. If there were any, it is rule of nature that man cannot infringe. The unlimitedness of life, this is the unlimitedness Taekwondo has as martiality(). There is no rule for you when you face your opponent on the boundary of life and death. You can only rely at the level of transcendence on the oughtness that you should win the fight with him. There is no knowing what cunning evil plot and unexpected tactics or cruel technique he may try. There can be no plea to it after death. This is the unlimitedness of Taekwondo.

By the way, this unlimitedness of Taekwondo generates the reason why we ought to obey the rule in competition. If you cannot control over your opponent in fair play with full obedience to rules in competition, you cannot surpass him with no rule in actual fight either. If you ignore rules cowardly in competition it will mean that you cannot avoid death in unlimited actual fight. The rule of competition is that of man. It exists for the sake of what man wants to do, which is to protect man in sparring. Nature does not care man. You as a Taekwondo man should exhaust all the frailty of death and the anguish of defeat in pain of transcendental discipline. It is a choice.

Your limitation is in its concept the realm and boundary of all you can do. The realm is to grow each time you go over it. The total of what you can do refers to your own size. That you go over your limitation, although this includes contradictory property, it is nevertheless possible for you who are a Taekwondo man because of the power of your will, your fortitude, your patience that comes from reverence for the life.

In this way you can in Taekwondo experience and come in direct contact with the most positive aspect of man's essence, which is conversely also the contradictory one at once, in the process of recognizing your own limitation, i.e. in Taekwondo training. And because your limitation gets enlarged each time of your training you can meet your limitation every time that you have to overcome.

Through Taekwondo training you should change yourself preserving what you are at the same time. Thus, training Taekwondo is the process that never ends in life to anyone. This implies both of its objective and its process in one. The entire meaning of life, true pleasure, the absolute strongness and so on are immanent in it, where the objective and the process make one. And they also derives from it at the same time.

Therefore, your training process, no matter what it may be constituted of, can be divided into two steps; the first step to reach your limit, which precedes in time, and the second step to overcome it, next. These two steps cannot be discerned actually in one.

Everyone's limitation can be characterized in various ways for himself and the limitations in each aspect are woven with the others to form the entire limitational situation. You should break one of them to attain the stepping stone to solve the entire problem. This entire limitational situation, it is yourself whom you meet in Taekwondo and he is your eternal opponent.

In some cases you can see a limitational situation that seem to be impossible for you to overcome simply with the power of your will. For example, what would you do if it mattered that your reaction is not quick enough? The overcoming method for every limitational situation is given in one, because yourself is one as an entirety, and so, your limitations are also one as whole, thus, its overcoming is one like others.

Therefore, you can practice more exercise of simple reacting motion over your limit to conquer your limitation. And you should attain tranquility of mind and the control of your life in this overcoming process. Only then, you can be happy with techniques of killing.
