Sufficient Knowledge of Taekwondo

You as an instructor should know full or sufficient knowledge of Taekwondo to be able to motivate your students. With sufficient knowledge you as an instructor can correct much faults of a student and you can inform what he or she have to practice for development in training. Without sufficient knowledge you cannot but teach students just forms and basic motions, which will take only several months, and then you will have nothing to teach them more, whereas they couldn't develope their Taekwondo yet.

1. Instructors should know basic concepts of Taekwondo philosophy.

Taekwondo is not merely a sort of exercise or sports but rather a martial art and its essence is said to be in its spirit or philosophy. The Taekwondo as a sport is nothing but one of its aspects, while its philosophy is its core and essence. The true philosophy of Taekwondo, therefore, is more than a conceptual scheme. It ought to be itself principles of technique, so that instructors cannot help commenting them in training, to teach his students techniques of Taekwondo. Otherwise what you teach others will lack its essence. It will be just a set of fighting technique, which gangsters would want.

( Structure of Taekwondo Philosophy)

2. Instructors should understand basics of Taekwondo training.

Basics is important. It is important for farther development and for brilliant technique of higher leveler. It was achieved by accumulated knowledge of many Taekwondo men for long time, so it is difficult to understand though it seems simple and easy. Only with sufficient knowledge you can see inside of what you see in basics. It is simple, maybe, too simple to understand, so you need knowledge of it. In training of Taekwondo, its most part is occupied by that of basics. So if you skip sufficient teaching of basics you will have nothing left to teach your students.

For good teaching of basics you may need sufficient knowledge of the invisible of Taekwondo.( The Visible and The Invisible)

3. Instructors should also have knowledge of training methods and of how to correct faults.

The ultimate substance of Taekwondo is simple and one thing, I believe.
